Shower Door FAQ

Are you a shower door company?

No. South Florida Shower Doors is an independent referral service. We pass your request to independent local shower door and glass installers, who give their own quotes. We don't sell or install anything.

Is it free?

Yes. Submitting a request costs nothing, and you aren't obligated to hire anyone.

Does shower glass have to be tempered?

Glass in shower and tub enclosures is a hazardous location under the Florida Building Code, Residential (Section R308.4.5), so it must be safety glazing, which in practice is usually tempered glass. Federal standard 16 CFR 1201 also covers glazing in shower and bathtub doors.

How much does a frameless shower door cost?

HomeGuide lists $600–$1,900 installed, with a $1,200 national average. Angi's frameless guide puts the typical spend at $1,000–$2,500. Local quotes vary with size, glass thickness and hardware. See our cost guide.

3/8 inch or 1/2 inch glass?

Both are common for frameless. HomeGuide notes stationary frameless panels are often 1/2" while the door is 3/8" so it's easier to open. See our glass types guide.

Do I need condo or HOA approval?

Often, yes. Many associations require an alteration request, contractor insurance certificates or limits on work hours. Check your documents or ask management.

How long does it take?

HomeGuide says glass is usually fabricated 2–7 days after measuring, and installation takes about 1–4 hours. Custom enclosures can take longer.

Can I send photos?

Yes. The form accepts an optional photo, which helps installers give a better first estimate.
